When Josephine was talking to Zayn on the phone, Ethan noticed that her tone was much gentler than usual.
If she were to meet Zayn under such conditions, what if she got swayed by his sweet words again?
Ethan rested his face on Josephine's shoulder, feeling the bones underneath her thin clothes. She was thin and
frail, yet her scent was soft and comforting. The closer he was to her neck, the stronger the milky fragrance of
her body shampoo became.

He quickly looked away, so that his nose would be far from her scent.

Zayn was waiting for her, so she should've been on the way. However, she couldn't just abandon him at the
hospital.
After shesitation, she asked, "Ethan, are you from Crestwood?"

"Do your parents live in Crestwood?"
Upon hearing that, a flicker of sadness passed through his eyes. After a brief pause, he put on a smile. "They
passed away when was very young. I've been staying with my uncle ever since, but we were never close. When |
was 16, | moved out and started living on my own."
She didn't expect him to have such a sad past.
If that was the case, she couldn't leave him alone at the hospital.
She knew all too well the feeling of being alone and not having any family or friends around in the hospital. Even
the most optimistic person could sink into despair in that situation.

Ethan's eyes lit up. He showed a shocked expression and asked, "Are you sure?
Won't you think I'm troublesome?"

George was busy with the
admission procedure and hadn't
returned yet. When Josephine left the ward, she asked a nurse to keep an eye on Ethan before heading
downstairs to buy sfruits.

When she arrived, George was already inside. She overheard him saying, "The doctor said that you have to stay
for treatment.
"It's best if you stay overnight and be discharged tomorrow. Someone has to stay with you in case something
happens to you."
