Chapter 723 Hendrix didn't answer Noelle.

"She's just starting to warm up to you, so can't you be a little nicer to her?" Noelle asked, displeasure growing in her tone.

"Haven't I been nice to her?" Hendrix finally replied.

"Then, tellwhat did you say to her earlier?" Hendrix paused mid-step. Then, he turned around to glance at her, saying, "I told her you were injured and needed rest." "That's all?" "What else did you think I said?" Hendrix asked with a chuckle.

Noelle felt there was more to it, but Hendrix didn't give her a chance to press further. Instead, he scooped her up into his arms and carried her swiftly toward the bedroom.

"What are you doing?" Noelle blurted out.

"What do you think I'm doing?" Hendrix shot back.

His response left Noelle momentarily speechless. After a pause, she said, "Didn't you just say I needed rest?" "Exactly. And this is rest," he replied.

By then, Hendrix had already carried her into the bedroom. But he didn't set her down. Instead, he kicked the door shut behind them, and in no time, Noelle found herself pinned beneath him on the bed.

"You" Mindful of his still-healing wounds, Noelle was about to say something. But before she could, Hendrix silenced her with a kiss.

1.n His movements were urgent, leaving Noelle struggling to catch her breath. She instinctively pressed her hands against his chest, but he quick caught her wrists and pinned them above her head. Next, her pajamas were tugged off, the buttons scattering across the floor with a sharp clink.

But the next moment, Hendrix's phone rang. The sudden sound froze the atmosphere in the room for a few seconds.

Hendrix ignored it at first, continuing what he was doing. But the caller was persistent. Finally, Noelle pushed him away. "Go answer the phone!" Hendrix pressed his lips into a thin line, his face tense. Reluctantly, he got up from the bed. When he saw the caller ID, his expression darkened even further.

"There better be an emergency for you to call," he said coldly.

The person on the other end said something that made Hendrix frown deeply. Then, he glanced at Noelle.

Puzzled at the way he was looking at her, Noelle was about to get up and ask him about it when he walked over and pulled the blanket over her.

"Why don't you go to sleep first?" he said softly. Then, he gave her a kiss on the cheek before walking out of the room with his phone in hand.

By now, he had switched to another language. He was speaking so m rapidly that Noelle couldn't make out what he was saying. By the tshe processed what was happening, Hendrix was already out of the room.

Though he hadn't said anything, Noelle could sense the tension in his demeanor. And recalling their experiences in Tilwick, there was no way she could fall asleep now.

She got up right away, quickly grabbing her clothes from the floor and putting them on as she headed out. Hendrix was already in the study. His call was still ongoing, but his emotions were running high-his tone was sharp and heated, as if he were scolding someone.

Noelle stopped in her tracks. She

knew barging in now wouldn't get her any answers. If anything, it wouldh only distract him so instead of going in she turned and headed downstairs to get him a glass of water. By the tshe returned, his call had ended. Hendrix was sitting at his desk, his expression blank as he stared at the computer screen.
