Chapter 674 Hendrix had few memories of his childhood. Looking back now, it was mostly filled with endless lessons and tasks. He had to learn so many things. He had to achieve the best grades in school, learn to play musical instruments and master golf, horseback riding, and multiple languages.

From a young age, everyone envied his status. The last n"Freeman" seemed to carry an innate sense of honor. But along with that honor can overwhelming weight of expectations.

If Hendrix were to choose now, he wasn't sure which life would be better. After all, while he had missed out on the carefree happiness of a normal childhood, what he had gained was indeed substantial.

But one thing was certain-he would never impose the sburdens on Rosie. So, when Beatrice recently suggested enrolling Rosie in various lessons, he turned her down without hesitation.

Beatrice had argued that as his daughter, Rosie was bound to be a prominent figure in Coopersville. Thus, if she didn't learn anything, it would be unworthy of her status.

But Hendrix didn't see it that way. It was exactly because Rosie was his daughter that even if she grew up to be a good-for-nothing, no one would dare look down on her. So, no matter what Beatrice said, he stood firm in his refusal.

As he finished speaking, Noelle suddenly grew quiet. When he looked down, he noticed her brows were slightly furrowed, and her lips were pressed tightly together.

Hendrix thought he had said something wrong. "What's the matter?" "Nothing," Noelle replied quickly, avoiding his gaze. She then added, "Why hasn't the carousel stopped yet?" "It'll stop soon," Hendrix answered. After a pause, he suddenly realized something. "Noelle, are you feeling sorry for me?" "No," Noelle replied without hesitation.

Her quick denial only confirmed Hendrix's suspicion. Not giving her a chance to evade, he tilted her chin to make her face him.

"What are you doing?" Noelle asked impatiently.

Just as she was going to push his hand away, Hendrix tightened his grip on her chin. Then, he smirked and said, "Seems like you really do feel sorry for me." "I already said I don't. Ugh, you're so annoying!" As she spoke, Noelle forcefully pried his fingers off her chin.

Just then, the carousel cto a stop.

Noelle slipped out from under Hendrix's arm and hopped off. Her movements were so swift that Hendrix didn't have tto react.

By the the reached out to grab her, she was already several steps away. He didn't chase after her. Instead, he watched her retreating figure for a while before lowering his head and chuckling.

Recently, Ruth had been living quite happily. Thanks to her "close friendship with Noelle, she had been the center of attention at several social gatherings. Not only had she received formal invitations to multiple events, but she also consistently claimed the center spot in group photos. Even her in-laws, who used to look down at her, had begun treating her with a bit more warmth.

Of course, the spotlight wasn't going to last forever. Within a few days om people began asking Ruth how Noelle was doing. They even urged her to invite Noelle out for coffee so they could all meet up.

But there was no way Ruth could get Noelle to come, nor did she have any intention of trying. She knew perfectly well Noelle wanted nothing to do with her. If Noelle actually showed up, all the lies Ruth had been carefully spinning would ccrashing down.
