The Archer family needed her to work with CICI Group, so there was no way they'd refuse Vester's request.

The very next day, Citrine moved into the Archer family's manor.

Of course, Sebastian insisted on coming along; Citrine had no choice but to let him tag along.

She slipped her arm through Sebastian's, putting on a display of affection for show.

"Mr. Vester, this is my boyfriend," she said lightly, "He's a little clingy and can't bear to be apart from me, so I hope you don't mindbringing him along." Vester's gaze landed on the man at Citrine's side, surprise flickering in his tone. "Ms. Carmichael, you have a boyfriend already?" To Vester, it seemed almost impossible for someone at Citrine's age to have accomplished so much-there were precious few who could measure up to her.

After a pause, he added, "Well, it makes sense. Someone as impressive as you surely has no shortage of admirers." Citrine responded with a polite smile.

Vester shot a look at the butler. "You both must be tired. The butler will show you to your room. I'll have someone call you when dinner is ready." Citrine and Sebastian thanked him and followed the butler through the grand halls.

It wasn't until they reached their destination that Citrine realized the butler had only prepared a single room for them.

"One room?" she echoed, uncertain.

The butler's eyes glanced between Citrine and Sebastian, a knowing smile at the corners of his mouth. "Ms. Carmichael, for your convenience, I arranged for the two of you to share this room." Before either could protest, the butler added, "I even had the bed swapped for a larger one. I trust you'll find it comfortable." Citrine's ears turned scarlet; she wished she could just sink into the floor.

Sebastian, meanwhile, looked at her flushed face with gentle amusement. She was adorable when embarrassed. "Thank you," he said to the butler, stepping in when Citrine couldn't find her voice. With that, the two stepped into their suite.

The room was spacious, and in the center stood a huge bed-impossible to miss.

Citrine's cheeks grew even hotter. The sight made her strangely uneasy.

Sebastian seemed to pick up on her discomfort. He smiled. "Relax, I'm not a monster." "I'll take the couch tonight. You have the bed." Citrine eyed the narrow little sofa, then eneared at his tall frame-he was nearly six foot three. "That couch is tiny. You'll never fit." She hesitated. "Why don't you take the bed? I'll sleep on the couch." She was petite herself, and the couch would be more than big enough for her.

Sebastian shook his head, still smiling. "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me. Just be good and take the bed." At that, Citrine stopped arguing.

She'd bit sleepen up early and was still a bit sleepy, and with that bed and with that massive ght in front of her, it was impossible to resist.

Without another word, she flopped down onto the bed.

Burying her face in the blanket, her voice muffled, she called, "Sebastian, I'm tired.'m going to sleep for a bit."

Sebastian didn't quite catch her words. Watching the small, bundled figure on the bed, he asked gently, "What did you say?"

Sleep was already pulling her under.

Annoyed at being interrupted, Citrine ve frowned "Don't talk to me." Her tone left no room for argument.

Sebastian could only laugh softly. He walked over and tucked the blanket around her.

She soon drifted off, her breathing growing even. Sebastian found his gaze lingering on her curled lashes, then drifting down to her softly parted lips. He swallowed, Adam's apple bobbing.

"To fall asleep that quickly... she really is something else," he murmured, shaking his head with a fond, helpless smile.
