Chapter 2317

"I guess." After a pause, Alexander said casually, "My father and his father were best friends, so our families

were close when | was still young. Your father and | were close playmates during our childhood."

In the past, Timothy and Maurice retired from the battlefield and went to Beach City. They started their

businesses and families. Their business went well as they kept competing against each other, and both families

were close.

When Alexander was born, both families stopped getting so close. It might be because of their different interests

or sother reason. Both Timothy and Maurice still got together during festivals, but the younger generation

rarely had anything to do with each other.

When Stefan came, the relationship between both families grew more distant. There was even ssecret

competition and conflicts of interest.

"Really?" Quinton's eyes lit up, and he becless fierce. He asked curiously, "What kind of a person was he?

Did anything interesting happen during your childhood with him?" "I... | don't remember." It seemed Alexander

didn't want to talk about that. He turned to Francine and Sophia, who were still fighting each other, then waved

at them. "Dear, aren't you tired? Don't you want to catch a break and have a cup of coffee?"

"Fine! I'm tired. | want to rest." Francine gasped and asked Sophia, "Let's take a break?"

Sophia was more exhausted than Francine. She swallowed and said, "Okay. | can't fight anymore."

After the negotiation, they released each other at the stime.

Justin sighed in relief and walked to Sophia. He meticulously helped smooth her hair and said helplessly, "Mom,

you should have talked it out with her. Why did you get into a fight with her? You two aren't young anymore. It's

indecent!"

"What's indecent about it? It wasn't the first twe did this. It's healthier, too."

Sophia glanced at Francine, who had gone to Alexander to have her coffee. Then, she mysteriously held Jack's

hand and said, "Justin, lettell you a secret. When | fought her, | think it wasn't her son who kidnapped Ren."

"Why did you say that?" Justin becinterested. To be more specific, he was hopeful.

He could forgive Renee, as long as she had not left with Stefan-any other man was fine in his book.

He gave himself tto calm down, fearing that he might have misunderstood the whole affair. If he took

revenge on Renee without knowing anything, he might never have the chance to make peace with her.

"I nearly tore her scalp off, but she insisted that her son didn't do it. Plus, she's curious about where Ren is now.

Logically speaking, she wouldn't have acted that way if she knew her son was the culprit," Sophia continued.

Francine and Alexander shared the sthoughts. Firstly, they were certain Stefan wouldn't have done such a

petty thing. Secondly, he would have no reason to keep it from them even if he was the culprit.

Francine had been calling Stefan a lot recently, but she hadn't gained any useful information from him. It was

enough to prove that he wasn't involved in this mess.
