Chapter 321 "Actually, there is something," said Xavier. "I'd like to get my clothes back." Everything he'd just said had cstraight from the heart. They hadn't been pick- up lines. He hadn't been flirting around.

He was truly, madly, deeply in love with her. He'd missed her for five years, now.

And even after all that time, she was still holding on to this grudge against him.

Now, he needed to scrabble up the flimsiest of excuses, just to see her for even a moment.

"What clothes?" Willow asked, perplexed.

"That coat I lent you, last night?" Willow suddenly remembered how she'd cdown in her nightclothes, the day before. For whatever reason, that fool Xavier had insisted on throwing his coat onto her.

Because she'd been wearing Xavier's coat, Jasper had lost his temper, for whatever reason. She'd spent the rest of the evening being terrorized and tormented by him.

"It's not with me!" Willow snapped.

"Willow... don't tellyou're holding on to it, as something to rememberby?" Xavier teased playfully. "Perhaps you still have feelings for me? Why can't we work things out between us, so that we can be together?" Willow found this suggestion to be incredibly irksome. "Don't get carried away," she admonished placidly, "As I've informed you countless times, I no longer have any feelings for you whatsoever. It's not that I want to keep your coat-but my mother just washed it, so it's sopping wet at the moment." "That's fine. I'll cby your place to pick it up anyway, and I'll give my regards to your mom while I'm at it." Before he could hang up on her, Willow scrambled to dissuade him: "Don't you dare! My mother won't tolerate your presence here! You're downstairs, right now?" "Yup." "Stay right there. I'll cdown immediately." She hung up, and was just about to burst out the door, when she realized that she was still in her nightclothes again.

Remembering what had happened last time, she decided it would be a terrible idea to repeat that sequence of events, and so she raced back to her room, grabbed sclothes from the closet, changed, and finally stepped outside.

The murky gloom of night encroached upon the soft glow of incandescent lights.

Xavier stood beneath a streetlamp, the shadow of his towering figure stretching absurdly across the ground.

Today, he was wearing a silver-gray suit, which combined with his short, chestnut- brown hair to create the image of a wealthy playboy.

Willow went over to him, but remained safely out of his reach.

"Like I said your coat is dripping wet, so it would be awkward to return it to you right now. When it's dried, I'l have it sent to your company office. How's that?" The truth was that Jasper had snatched away his coat yesterday, and tossed it into his bathroom at his mansion. She had no idea private what condition it was currently in, or how she could get it back from him.

She'd have to go buy a new one for Xavier.

"Hey, con. Let's talk in the car." Xavier watched her with eyes radiating fond affection.

The main reason he'd chere was to see her. He couldn't care less about that coat.

But he wasn't satisfied with only getting a brief glimpse of her, like this...

He'd do anything, anything at all, just to get one more moment with her...

"No need. That was all I had to tell you. I'm going back, now." Xavier started after her. "Alright, I'll cwith you. I should say hello to your mom, anyway."

Willow snapped to a halt, drawing in a deep breath to fight down herm fish weherm annoyance and frustration. "On En: second thought, let's talk in your car." She yanked the door open and climbed in the backseat. Xavier took a seat beside her.

He wasn't up to anything. All he wanted was to be closer to her-close enough to take in the calming scent of her body. He'd be satisfied with just that. He needed to get a conversation going, somehow... "So you're working with my Uncle Jaz, huh? Have you been able to cope, so far?" "Yeah." Willow wasn't in the mood to chat. She was tired and wanted to rest. She wanted to get back hright away.

"Willow, I just want to make sure you understand: Don't get too close to my uncle. He tends to give women a He tends to hard time. If you becan enemy of his woman... things won't end well for you."
