Chapter 602 Selena was frozen, unsure where to put her hands and feet. They had just been caught in a less-than- ideal moment, and the room was a mess. Letting their son see them like this? She'd die of embarrassment.

She practically hid herself in Everett's broad arms, burying her face, not wanting to see anyone. On the flip side, Everett was as cool as a cucumber.

The master bedroom was pretty spacious, with the bed and the sofa a good distance apart. The sofa's back was tall enough to block their son's view. From his angle, all he'd see were his parents cozied up together, nothing more scandalous.

Feeling her shiver, Everett gently ran his hand along her lower back, pulling her closer. Selena gritted her teeth, frustrated but unable to say a word.

Everett, looking at their son with a straight face, said, "Mateo, your mom and I were just having a heartfelt talk, which means...we're very much in love." Mateo was convinced once again. Hearing about his parents' love made his eyes light up like little crescents. In no time, Everett managed to send Mateo back to his room, snuggling his little blanket.

Selena was amazed-if Everett were left to raise their kid alone, Mateo might turn out just like him. The thought was chilling! With their son out of the room, Everett looked down, playfully lifting Selena's chin, eyeing her flustered face with a grin. "Shall we pick up where we left off?" Selena tilted her head and smiled at him. Just as he was feeling pleased, she kicked him right off the sofa. Caught off guard, Everett fell back onto the sofa, momentarily stunned.

Selena sat up, her bare feet pressing firmly against his chest. "Try that stunt in front of our son again, and see what happens!" Their son was already pretty wise for his age; she didn't want to rush things. She wanted Mateo to have a carefree, happy childhood like any other kid.

Everett was taken aback for a second but then stopped resisting. He lay there, looking up at her with a grin, "Alright, Mrs. Bennett, whatever you say." His voice was husky and magnetic, making Selena's heart skip a beat unexpectedly. She quickly looked away, trying to ignore her racing heart. "I can't be bothered with you." She slipped on her dress and quickly headed to the bathroom.

It was the weekend, and for once, Everett was staying home, spending the day teaching their son sign language. Mateo had ssignificant damage to his vocal cords. He could speak, but the doctors advised him to talk less until he healed properly. Because of the trauma, he barely- remembered that night. All he recalled was fire-fire no everywhere-and it was terrifying.

Thankfully, his lack of memory didn't change anything. Selena decided not to dig deeper, figuring it was best left to time.

In the bright, roomy living room,

Everett had Mateo on his lap, with a video lesson projected on the wall in Even though it was just front of them. Even a beginner's class, the Bennett family's son was expected to excel at everything, especially since Mateo was the future heir. Learning another language was a smart move.

If Selena hadn't stepped in, Everett would have already started his professional heir training. Meanwhile, Selena was in the kitchen with Ava, baking a cake. Mateo shared his mom's sweet tooth, loving all kinds of cakes-matcha, chocolate, you nit. Ava, a whiz in the kitchen, handled everything with ease, while Selena, the newbie, helped out as best she could.

As Ava was putting the finishing touches on the cake, she suddenly said, "I guess Mateo's accident wasn't all bad." Selena paused, knowing exactly

what Ava was hinting at. Over the past few months, even though she, had returned to Everett's side and they lived like a regular couple, the difference between being in love and just coexisting was clear. Anyone could see whether a couple was truly in love or just going through the motions.
