First Love 86
Chapter 86
Joseph spoke bluntly without a trace of hesitation.
"Dad, I'm hall day without much to do. Since I can't contribute much to the business, why not lettake on
this role? Fiona carries the heavy responsibility of managing the company's PR department. I'd hate to see her
overworked." Ursula smiled as she spoke on her behalf.
Her voice was gentle and soothing like a warm breeze.
Angela felt an inexplicable sense of discomfort.
Fiona would be even more marginalized with no place in the family if Ursula were truly put in charge.
"Grandpa, Mom can easily manage such a massive PR department. It'll be no challenge for her to manage the
household. She's experienced, after all. Aunt Ursula is accustomed to a life of leisure. | think it's best to let her
live her life that way," Angela said.
Fiona was slightly stunned as she cast a puzzled glance at her.
Angela's expression remained unreadable when their eyes met. She silently urged her to advocate for herself.
This was certainly not a decision that could be finalized over breakfast.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtJoseph simply said they would discuss it further after considering the opinions of Natalie and others.
"Why did you speak up for me?" Fiona asked bluntly. "Don't you know that | have no interest in wrestling for
power with Ursula?"
Dexter joined them at that moment.
He had heard what happened during breakfast earlier and was suspicious of Angela's actions.
"Mom, don't you want to change how everyone sees you? Aunt Ursula is charming with her words, which is why
Natalie and Joseph always favor her. everyone overlooks your contribution to the company, then proving yourself
capable of managing the household might earn you the recognition you deserve.” Angela was genuinely
indignant on Fiona's behalf.
Angela hadn't forgotten the days Fiona had been harsh toward her despite their recent
truce.
However, she was changing. She also hoped that Fiona could gain the recognition she deserved from everyone
for being a hardworking role model.

These were two entirely different matters and shouldn't be conflated.
"It's not necessary." Fiona turned her back on Angela, leaving her with an indifferent view of her back.
The rejection left Angela momentarily speechless.
She recalled her conversation with Cecilia a few days ago, during which Cecilia had asked her to speak well of
Ursula to Joseph.
"Mom, I'll advocate for you with Grandpa. Consider a thank-you for helpinglast time. But it's for you to
decide whether to fight for yourself.” With that, Angela grabbed her bag
and left.
The study room fell into silence.
The mother and son remained silent for a long tbefore Dexter said, “Mom, maybe you should give it a try."
"You've been brainwashed by that little brat too?" Fiona sneered.
She couldn't forget how starkly different Natalie's attitude toward her and Ursula had been when they first
married into the family.
Ursula had secured a prominent position in the family with her knack for charming everyone around her and her
social skills.
Meanwhile, she was unwilling to soften her stance and waste ton trivial social niceties. The elders of the
family never favored her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEveryone had grown accustomed to her way of handling things over the years.
She was used to handling her responsibilities quietly without saying more than necessary. However, it was
difficult for her to accept when someone younger than her questioned her way of handling things.
"| just think that she has a point." Dexter let out a faint sigh. His voice had a melancholy tinge.
His relationship with Angela had hit rock bottom recently, yet he found himself wanting to make amends. Hence,
he would intentionally show up around her.
However, that infuriating woman seemed utterly oblivious. She could always manage to overlook his presence.
"Why don't you worry about yourself first? You can't even hold on to your wife. What a disgrace!" Fiona shot him
a cold glare before turning around to leave,
