Chapter 299 Javier called the cops, and they showed up in no time. Once they got the lowdown, they explained that since Lizzy was snatched at Oak Lake, they had the right to open a case. They promised the family they'd team up with the Cloudville police and work with the American authorities to catch Chris.

When it cto who spilled the beans to Zach, though, the cops said that was a family issue they'd have to sort out themselves.

After the police left, Grandma Emily, having taken her meds, wasn't about to let Allison off easy. She was adamant that Allison should apologize to Lillian.

Allison scoffed, "Apologize? She's not worth it." "You..." Grandma Emily glared at her. "Thank goodness we never let you into the Fisher family!" Haley and Joshua both frowned at this.

Haley pleaded, "Mom, don't be like this. Allie just went through a kidnapping, nearly lost her life, and it was because of our family that she was put in danger. Allie's sister is still missing. She hit Lillian in a moment of impulse..." Joshua cut in with a cold tone, "I was the one who proposed to Allie, she didn't push to join the Fisher family. Let's not say things like that anymore." Javier, with a look of disdain, said, "We don't need the Fisher family. Allie, chwith me." Allison nodded, "Alright." She locked eyes with Grandma Emily, her gaze icy. "I'll find out who leaked the info. If it's Lillian, she won't get away with it." With that, Allison turned to leave, but Joshua grabbed her wrist.

"Allie..." She glanced down at his hand, her voice frosty. "Let go." Joshua hesitated, not moving.

Allison yanked her hand away, eyes blazing. "If Lillian leaked the info, I'll confront her, even if it means standing against you and the whole Fisher family." Joshua was stunned, feeling a sharp pang in his chest. Why didn't she trust he'd be on her side? If Lillian really betrayed them, he'd be the first to hold her accountable. Why did Allie think he'd protect Lillian over her? sŵ Joshua swallowed hard, at a loss for words.

Allison left without looking back.

"Stop right there!" Grandma Emily shouted, furious. "When did this beca place where you can do as you please? You think you can hit someone and just walk away? What do you take this place for?" "Grandma!" Joshua snapped, his patience gone, his voice firm and commanding. Though not loud, it carried weight.

Grandma Emily fell silent.

Lillian, tears in her eyes, bit her lip and reached for Joshua's sleeve "Brother really..." Joshua pushed her aside and went upstairs, phone in hand.

Lillian nearly stumbled, glaring at Allison's retreating figure with growing resentment.

Once Javier and Allison were gone, Grandma Emily kept ranting.

Haley gave Lillian a cool glance, said nothing, and headed upstairs.

Ben, listening to Grandma's endless complaints, felt a headache brewing. He rubbed his temples, weary. "Mom, you're being unreasonable to

The Owens family has been through enough because of us, yet you still hotd such a grudge against Allie?" Cóntent Grandma Emily was divid "What do you mean I'm being unreasonable? She just slapped Lillian right in front of us, no evidence, just walked up and slapped her. And you, as her father, don't even stand up for your daughter? Instead, you say I'm the unreasonable one? Who's really being unreasonable here?"
