Chapter 130
Olivia's heart skipped a beat. “I... | got scammed out of the money!”
Catlin was stunned, “What? You...”
Scammed?
A shadow crossed Chris‘ eyes, his thoughts hidden from view,
Tyler, ever the trusting soul, took it at face value.
He chuckled. “Scammed, huh? No wonder you were yelling at them and threatening to call the cops.”
Olivia's heart hammered against her ribs as she nodded frantically. “Yeah, they rippedoff for thirty thousand
dollars. | was furious.”
Catlin visibly relaxed, relieved it was just a scam.
“Thirty thousand dollars isn’t worth getting into a fight.”
Tyler ruffled Olivia's hair affectionately. “Yeah, it’s just money. Next time, don’t answer those dodgy calls.
It was clear Tyler and Catlin bought Olivia's story hook, line, and sinker.
Chris, however, remained inscrutable.
Olivia, sensing something was off, turned to him. “Chris, what's wrong?”
His eyes were too intense.

Outside the room.
Seeing Chris leave, Stephanie stopped eavesdropping and hurried away with Elliot.
But Chris spotted her as he exited the room.
He strode over.
As they all stepped into the elevator, Chris’ face darkened at the sight of Elliot by her side.
‘A different guy every day?’
“That damn woman... *
The elevator doors opened with a ‘ding’, and Stephanie and Elliot started to leave.

But a hand grabbed her wrist. Stephanie turned to Chris, her voice icy. “Let go!”
Chris asked, “Are you really cutting ties with the Harts?”
He had thought she was just acting out.
That she didn’t mean half the things she said.
But it was clear now this woman was dead serious..
She had sent a lawyer to Catlin with the papers. Right on cue, the lawyer approached.
Seeing Stephanie, he greeted her respectfully. “Miss Giovanni.”
“Go ahead, make sure it's done right.”
That was all Chris needed to hear. There was no mistaking her intentions now.
A lawyer? It was really happening.
Chris tightened his grip on Stephanie’s wrist. “Why? Because of Olivia?”
Stephanie rolled her eyes, “Didn’t that water bucket knock any sense into you?”
Still asking why...
Like she owed him an explanation.
Chris was speechless.
His face darkened at the mention of the water bucket.
That woman!’
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHow could any guy be into her with that attitude?’
Chris opened his mouth to speak. But a hand clamped onto his wrist.
Elliot's grip was like a vise. Chris felt like his bones would shatter with the slightest movement.
“Mr. Ashford, let go.”
Chris glared at him, furious.
Stephanie challenged, “What's up? Wanna throw down?”
A dangerous edge crept into Stephanie’s voice as Chris hesitated.
Chris’ face was thunderous.
Finally, he released Stephanie's wrist. Stephanie, free, walked away with Elliot.
Her departing figure was resolute, cold, as if there was no turning back.
