Chapter 323 A Grave Threat "Hi, Mom. How have you been lately?" Sierra asked, gripping her cell phone and rubbing her sleeves.
Vera was sobbing, but she forced herself to speak calmly, "I'm doing quite well. What about you? Has Theo been treating you right? Did the Grays make life difficult for you?" Tears welled up in Sierra's eyes when she heard the concern in Vera's voice. Then, she patiently answered each of the questions.
Meanwhile, Theo reached out and wiped her tears away before gently pulling her into his arms.

"Pass the phone to him. I'd rather deal with him directly." Shortly after, Sierra heard William's sickening voice over the phone. "I didn't expect you to be this capable. You actually won Theo's heart. Now that you two are married, don't you think it's tyou hold up the end of your bargain? When are you going to givethe monetary gift?" When she heard William's voice, she wiped her tears as she asked icily, "Did you hit Mom again?" William sneered and reached out to pinch Vera, who gasped painfully at once.
Sierra quivered with rage when she heard it. She closed her eyes to give herself a few seconds before speaking in a deep and menacing tone. "William, you won't get anything fromif you lay a finger on Mom again." Vera wasn't willing to divorce William. In order to make her life easier, Sierra had to lure him with smonetary interest. Now that she had put his interest at stake, Vera's painful gasps immediately stopped.
"I didn't want to have to hit her. It was just that she refused to obey me. She and Xavier wouldn't have had to go through this if she had made this call sooner." He defended himself, not feeling an ounce of guilt for beating up his wife and son.
Sierra had long given up on William, even though he was her birth father. However, that didn't mean his words didn't give her goosebumps.
"Did you hit Xavier? Is there any humane quality left in you? He's your son!" At first, Sierra thought that William doted on Xavier. Little did she expect that he still beat Xavier, whenever he felt like it.
She cto realize that she was wrong about something. It wasn't that William didn't love her. Instead, he didn't love anyone but himself.
"So, what if he's my son? Anyone who disobeysearns a good beating." He sat on the couch arrogantly as he shot Xavier, who still couldn't pick himself up from the floor, with a triumphant look, his eyes brimming with menace.
Sierra found it hard to breathe. She clutched her chest and gnashed her teeth. It didn't matter why Vera refused to leave the heartless monster. She couldn't let Vera and Xavier continue to live under William's control. Otherwise, it was just a matter of tbefore he beat them to death.

We still hadn't had our wedding ceremony. You're going to have to wait for a while." "Huh? Am I supposed to wait longer? Is this a trick?" William was unhappy with her response.
Sierra elaborated calmly, "All good things cto those who wait. If you want something from me, you're going to have to wait. Stop hurting Mom. Otherwise, I'll throw caution to the wind and divorce Theo. You can kiss your stuff goodbye when that happens."
"Stop threatening me, you prick," he retorted disdainfully. "san wait for the other stuff, but you're going to work faster on the collaboration."
Another collaboration fell through recently, and Shaw Corporation had begun going downhill. Dhe couldn't secure another profitable project, his company wouldn't last too long before it declared bankruptcy. That was why he wanted the Gray family's monetary gift now.
Sierra was beyond rage when she realized that William simply wouldn't cave. She was tempted to hang up of him, but she on him, but she was worried that Vera and Xavier would bechis punching bags. That was when someone took her cell phone away from her.
Sierra looked over in surprise and met Theo's calm gaze. Then, her frantic heart immediately relaxed.
"Mr. Shaw, I'm a man of my word. The contract will be sent to the Shaw residence before you know it."
