Chapter 152 Feeling Nervous "I'll have you remember that I gave you the wealthy life you have now. I gave you pride when you had none.
"You're nothing without me. Anyone who wants to pick on you will still be able to do it as and when they want to. You will never have the life you have now.
"I'm the only person in the world you can truly rely on. I want Sierra to marry into the Gray family because I want a better life for you. You got that?" William's words were as cold as they were sharp. They stabbed through Vera's heart, making her body turn stiff and snuffing out any thoughts of resistance.
Sierra received the call from Vera at school. She got so mad that she clenched her fists tightly.
William was just despicable. He failed as a father, and he failed hard as a husband. She had seen with her own eyes how he beat Vera up. Once he swung his fists, he was merciless and cold-blooded.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNeedless to say, Benson must've asked Sierra to go to Gray Manor because she wanted to discuss the marriage with her.
If she didn't show up, Vera would suffer. If she did, however, she'd play right into his hands. She was trapped between two cruel options, and her expression darkened.
There was a twhen Sierra unconditionally placed her trust in Benson and told him absolutely everything about the ugly truth of her family.
Initially, she thought that he would be the person who pulled her out of the abyss. The last thing she had expected was for him to betray her trust and manipulate her with it.
Benson pulled a page out of William's playbook; he blackmailed Sierra with her mom.
William wasn't surprised to see Sierra showing up at the Shaw residence in an unassuming white sweater and jeans. He had prepared a gown and a makeup artist just for her.
"Where's my mom?" Sierra glanced at the delicate white gown before she gave him an indifferent look. "Don't worry. Just do what I say and don't stir up any trouble, and I won't hurt your mom." William might've been smiling, but Sierra merely felt sick at what she saw.
"You have better not hurt her. If I find out that she was beaten up or suffered in any way, I will make your life a living hell." Sierra's voice was cold and aloof. Then, she took the gown and left the living room.
He wasn't riled up by the threat. The more she cared about Vera, the better. That would make it easier for him to manipulate her.
The sky turned dark.
Benson wore a hand-tailored white suit with the top two buttons undone. It revealed the white shirt inside with the elegant tie. His sophisticated outfit brought out his sharp features, making him look more refined and extraordinary.
Lowering his head, he looked at the tie, and his lips curled into a grin. Sierra designed it specifically for him in the past. She drew the patterns on it with her own hands, too. It was a sign of her deep love for him.

Benson touched the velvet box in his pocket and checked his watch. It was almost for the dinner appointment, but he had yet to see anything out there. He couldn't help but feel somewhat nervous.
"Did you call Theo, Benson? Why isn't he here yet?" Edward's voice cfrom behind
him. His eyes fluttered momentarily. He turned around and said calmly did give him a call, Grandpa, but Uncle Theo said that he has something he needs to do tonight. So he can't make it."
Edward was slightly surprised, but he didn't think anything of it when he recalled how cold and distant Theo was. "His own nephew is getting married, and yet he doesn't even show up. It's clear he doesn't respect us at all." Jled Benson outside and said in a displeased tone.
Benson frowned and responded softly, "It's okay that he doesn't show that he up, Mom! I'm the one who's getting married, and he's not a part of it."
