Reese felt a tinge of shyness, and her cheeks flushed as she looked at Lukas. "I never had any idea that you
were such a sweet talker!"
Lukas immediately shook his head and assured her, "It's not flattery, it's the truth!"
Reese playfully quipped, "Back when we first met, | could never have imagined that you would find me
attractive!"
Lukas was taken aback, but he quickly replied, "I was blind at the time!"
This time, Reese couldn't contain her laughter. She grabbed a napkin from a nearby table to dab at the corner of
her mouth before she gave Lukas a look of amusement. "I was just trying to tease you; there's no need to take it
all that seriously. We were strangers when we first met. Now | understand: Beauty is truly in the eyes of the
beholder!"
Lukas, his expression remarkably serious, declared, "You don't have a clue. | was a stranger to you at the time,
and you were indeed beautiful. It was just that | was not in the habit of giving compliments to strangers."

Reese had never expected to hear Lukas talk about loving with such seriousness. With a smile and a nod, she
remarked, "You're right. Now let's eat!"
Lukas nodded and went back to his meal.
It was fascinating to Reese that all that was necessary for Lukas to be this obedient was his agreement to be
with her. She realized that love could truly transform a man into a devoted partner, a realization that left her in
awe.
As the candlelight dinner drew to a close, Lukas suddenly asked, "What do you think we should do after
dinner...?"
With a deep blush and a hint of righteousness, Reese replied, "We're still in the early stages of a romantic
relationship; we have to follow the normal protocols of love. You can't get ahead of yourself!"
Lukas was at a loss for words, "What are you talking about?"
Reese was taken aback and somewhat at a loss. "Didn't you just imply that?"
Lukas inquired with an air of understanding and a playful glint in his eyes, "What do you mean | just implied
that?"
It was obvious that he had an idea of what Reese was thinking.
Reese's face turned as red as if she'd spilled ketchup. Embarrassed, she cleared her throat. She'd been under the
mistaken impression that Lukas was in the process of moving their relationship forward as a result of their newly
obtained marriage license. In reality, she'd misinterpreted his intentions. And it was really embarrassing!
With a blush on her face, she glared at him and warned, "This is not the time; don't ask!"
"It's nothing, | just..." Lukas looked a bit helpless but replied with a hint of amusement.
Upset, Reese cut him off, "Don't bring that up again or I'll get upset!"
Lukas looked at her with an indulgent look and reassured her, "All right, I'll respect your wishes! We won't

Reese seemed more at ease and sighed with relief. She pursed her lips and suggested, "How about... we watch a
movie later?"
Hill Crest One Residence had its own htheater on the third floor, but Reese and Lukas had yet to have any
use for it.
Lukas' eyes lit up at her suggestion and he readily agreed, "All right, we'll go with your idea!"
Reese felt a little uncomfortable with Lukas being so compliant. She cleared her throat and said, "Well... let's
continue to interact as we're used to. You don't have to do everything | say, otherwise, | won't get used to it."
Reese's assumption had been that with Lukas' current level of compliance, he would surely be on top of her
every word. But to her surprise, he gave her only a faint glance, a hint of a smile in his eyes, and remarked, "But
isn't a husband supposed to listen to his wife?"
Reese's pupils dilated and her cheeks turned a deeper shade of red as she looked back at Lukas. "Could you
please be more respectful? I... I'm going upstairs to pick out a movie for us to watch!"
