When she saw the caller ID, however, the light in her eyes seemed to fade a little bit at a time.
James noticed the obvious change in her mood and asked her casually as he drove, "It's not Lukas, is it?"
Reese replied with a flat "No," and added, "It's a senior at my college."
Her phone rang a few more times before she answered and replied, "Hello?"
When Luther Van Eimeren heard Reese's depressed tone of voice, he felt a little concerned, "Reese, are you
feeling down? Why are you in such a bad mood?"
With a purse of her lips, Reese replied, "I'm fine. Do you have anything to talk about?"
Luther hesitated and stated, "Do you have ttonight? How would you like to go out and eat together?"
Reese's tone of voice beca bit sharp as she thought of Luther's relationship with Vivian Scholl. "You're not
having dinner with your fiancée tonight and you want to have dinner with me?"
Luther was taken aback by this. This was the first tthat Reese had spoken to him in such a direct manner.

very long time. And with the recent online bullying you've faced, I'm a little concerned about you, that's why ..."
Luther's explanation was somewhat incoherent, and Reese interrupted, "Thank you for your concern. | have a lot
of work to do, so | won't be having dinner with you. I'm all right, so you don't have to worry about me."
Luther was disappointed. He hadn't expected that the attempt to see Reese would be so difficult since his return
to the country. She seemed reluctant to meet him.
He chuckled self-mockingly and said, "All right, as long as you're well, I'm at peace. You can hang up now."
It was then that he realized that Reese had in fact already hung up the phone. Luther felt a pang of sadness, and
he covered his eyes with the palm of his hand.
The favored ones are always so confident. In the past, Reese had always looked up to him with admiration and
had always followed him around. He had never been afraid of losing her.
However, ever since she had started to go out with her first boyfriend two years ago, everything has changed.
The place James chose for dinner tonight was a Chinese restaurant called "West Chamber's Moon".
He could tell that Reese wasn't in a good mood, so he didn't engage her in the usual playful banter during the
car ride.
By the tthey arrived at the restaurant and ordered their meals, Reese had a preoccupied look on her face.
James couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her and ask, "Lia, what are you thinking about?"
Reese snapped out of her thoughts and turned to look at him.
Her eyes flashed and she asked, "You askedto cout here to discuss the progress of the investigation into
the mosquito coil. So, what's the progress?"
She thought that since James had gone out of his way to invite her to cout, he must have discovered
something of significance.
When James heard this, he was slightly startled but managed to regain his composure. He took a folder out of his
pocket and handed it to Reese. "The information you're looking for is in here."
Reese took the folder immediately as James had just put it down. However, when she opened the folder that he
had handed to her, all she found were a few clear records of transactions with dates and places.

Reese's face darkened and she frowned, "James, is this what you found? Just this?"
James blinked and nodded, "Is there a problem?"
Reese's expression becuncomfortable, "James King, | know that | should be grateful for your help with the
investigation, and | should appreciate it. | shouldn't doubt your intentions, but what you're showingright now
givesthe feeling that you've just been luringout on a date with this case."
James' pupils contracted slightly and he leaned back in his chair and looked at Reese with a blank expression on
his face, "So, are you going to question me?"
Reese pursed her lips and replied, "That's not what | meant at all. I just hope you can be honest with me."
James looked at her, shrugged, and spread his hands. "All right, since you wantto be honest, I'll be honest. |

that the person behind the attack on Peter Park's room is probably abroad since the transactions were made in
